Food-Safe Flooring That Passes Every Inspection
Food and beverage facilities operate under the most demanding flooring requirements in any industry. Between aggressive chemical wash-downs, extreme temperature swings, constant moisture, and strict regulatory oversight from USDA, FDA, and third-party auditors, your floor system must perform flawlessly — or your entire operation is at risk. A failed coating in a food processing environment does not just cost money to replace; it can trigger audit findings, production shutdowns, and potential product contamination.
At Epoxy Flooring Pro, we specialize in floor systems engineered specifically for food and beverage processing. Our urethane cement and antimicrobial epoxy systems are approved for direct food contact environments and have been installed in processing plants, breweries, dairy facilities, and commercial kitchens across Michigan and the Midwest.

Systems for Food and Beverage Environments
Urethane Cement (Cementitious Urethane)
The gold standard for food processing floors. Urethane cement is installed at 1/4” to 3/8” thickness and chemically bonds to properly prepared concrete. It is the only resinous floor system that withstands true thermal shock — surviving rapid temperature changes from -40F freezers to 200F+ steam cleaning without cracking, delaminating, or losing adhesion. Key properties include:
- Resistance to organic acids (citric, lactic, acetic)
- Resistance to CIP (clean-in-place) chemicals and caustic solutions
- Integral antimicrobial additives that inhibit bacterial growth
- Non-porous, seamless surface that eliminates harborage points
Antimicrobial Epoxy Systems
For areas that do not experience extreme thermal shock — dry processing, packaging, and storage zones — our antimicrobial epoxy systems provide excellent chemical resistance with built-in microbial inhibition. These systems are applied at 20-60 mils with customizable texture profiles and color options for zone identification.
Seamless Cove Base
Every food and beverage floor installation includes seamless cove base — a radiused transition from the floor to the wall that eliminates the 90-degree corner where bacteria, moisture, and organic material accumulate. This detail is critical for passing HACCP audits and is required in virtually every USDA-inspected facility.
Meeting Regulatory Requirements
Our food and beverage floor systems are designed to satisfy the requirements of multiple regulatory frameworks:
- USDA — approved for direct food contact environments
- FDA — compliant with 21 CFR food contact surface regulations
- HACCP — seamless, non-porous surfaces that support hazard control plans
- SQF / BRC / FSSC 22000 — audit-ready flooring that meets third-party certification standards
- State health departments — compliant with Michigan and Midwest state food facility codes

Industries We Serve
Our food and beverage flooring systems are installed in:
- Meat and poultry processing plants
- Dairy and cheese production facilities
- Breweries, wineries, and distilleries
- Commercial and institutional kitchens
- Fruit and vegetable processing
- Bakeries and confectionery plants
- Cold storage and freezer facilities
- Beverage bottling and canning operations
Minimizing Production Downtime
We understand that every hour of downtime costs your facility revenue. Our crews work nights, weekends, and holidays to minimize disruption. For phased installations, we coordinate with your production schedule to coat sections sequentially — keeping portions of the facility operational while work progresses. Fast-cure urethane cement systems can achieve foot traffic readiness in 12-16 hours, allowing rapid return to operations.
