Protect Your Facility From Catastrophic Spills
Industrial facilities that store, process, or handle hazardous chemicals face significant environmental and financial liability. A single containment failure can result in six-figure remediation costs, EPA enforcement actions, facility shutdowns, and lasting environmental damage. Secondary containment systems are your last line of defense — and they must perform flawlessly when called upon.
At Epoxy Flooring Pro, we engineer and install chemical-resistant containment coatings and tank linings that protect your facility, your workers, and the environment. Our systems are designed to contain the specific chemicals in your operation, not generic “chemical-resistant” coatings that may fail against your actual exposures.

Our Containment and Lining Systems
Secondary Containment Coatings
Secondary containment areas — the diked or bermed zones around chemical storage tanks, drum racks, and processing equipment — require coatings that can withstand prolonged chemical exposure, not just brief splashes. We install:
- Novolac epoxy systems — the highest chemical resistance available in epoxy technology, rated for concentrated acids, strong solvents, and caustics at elevated temperatures
- Vinyl ester systems — excellent resistance to oxidizing acids and bleach solutions
- Polyurea hybrid systems — flexible, fast-cure containment for areas with substrate movement or tight turnaround requirements
Every containment installation includes seamless cove base that transitions the coating from floor to wall, eliminating joints where chemicals can penetrate to the concrete substrate.
Tank Linings
Interior tank linings protect against corrosion from the stored material and extend vessel service life by decades. We apply tank linings to:
- Chemical storage tanks (steel and concrete)
- Waste treatment basins and sumps
- Plating tanks and process vessels
- Water and wastewater tanks
- Neutralization pits and trenches
Our tank lining systems are applied in multiple coats with holiday (pinhole) testing between layers to ensure a continuous, defect-free barrier.
Trench and Sump Coatings
Chemical collection trenches, floor drains, and sumps are often the most neglected — and most vulnerable — elements of a containment system. We coat these critical components with the same high-performance systems used on primary containment surfaces, ensuring complete protection from floor to drain.

Regulatory Compliance
Our containment systems are designed to meet the requirements of:
- EPA 40 CFR 264/265 — secondary containment for hazardous waste storage
- SPCC Plans — Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure requirements
- Michigan DEQ/EGLE — state environmental regulations
- NFPA 30 — flammable and combustible liquids storage
- Local fire codes — municipal containment requirements
We work with your environmental compliance team to ensure the coating system specification meets the exact regulatory requirements for your stored materials and facility classification.
Chemical Resistance Engineering
Not all “chemical-resistant” coatings are created equal. A coating that resists dilute acids may fail catastrophically against concentrated solvents. Our approach begins with a detailed chemical exposure analysis:
- Identify every chemical stored or processed in the containment area
- Determine concentrations, temperatures, and exposure duration
- Cross-reference against manufacturer chemical resistance charts
- Select the coating system rated for the most aggressive exposure
- Specify thickness, number of coats, and cure requirements
This engineering approach eliminates the guesswork that leads to premature coating failures and containment breaches.
